Lidia Thorpe and the Greens protest Albanese government’s Gaza response in Senate – video

Independent senator Lidia Thorpe has interrupted foreign affairs minister Penny Wong while she was speaking in the Senate about Labor's response to the conflict in Gaza, with Thorpe shouting 'shame on you!' and 'complicit in genocide!'. Senate president Sue Lines asked Thorpe to be quiet or leave and Thorpe chose to leave the chamber.

A short time later 10 Greens senators pulled out placards reading 'sanctions now' after criticising the Albanese government’s response to Israel. 'Will you sanction Israel for its illegal actions and occupation?' the Greens senator Mehreen Faruqi asked as the party's senators held up the placards.
