Albania: protesters calling for resignation of PM clash with police – video report

Albanian police fired teargas to disperse protesters who hurled petrol bombs at government buildings and smashed city property in Tirana on 7 October.

Demonstrators are demanding that the government be replaced by a technocratic caretaker until next year’s parliamentary election. The conservative opposition has long accused prime minister Edi Rama’s Socialists of corruption, manipulating earlier voting and usurping the powers of the judiciary.

Protesters were also demonstrating against the house arrest of the opposition Democratic party leader, Sali Berisha, who has denied any wrongdoing, on corruption charges
